Modern Black + White Wedding in Austin

I love all the simple, modern details of this edgy, yet sophisticated wedding! Captured by Andy Sams Photography, Renée and Bob were married on a late April day under a canopy of string lights and trees branches in Austin, Texas. The couple’s intimate wedding was attended by a small group of family and friends. The hotel venue had a lovely aesthetic, with a giant SOUL sign over the swimming pool and a fun rock ‘n roll interior. A simple black and white color scheme was used throughout this chic event.

A few words from the bride:

A little about us… Bob and I live in Houston, but have always had a place in our hearts for the city of Austin. We had our first roadtrip together there, first told each other ‘I love you’ there, and have made so many memories together in Austin.

Bob even proposed to me on a visit to Austin. He had surprised me with tickets to see Sondre Lerche for my birthday. The day after the concert we went for a bike ride. On a little stop during the ride, he proposed!! I was totally surprised!

With all of the special moments we’ve shared in Austin, it just seemed natural to have our wedding there. Austin was part of what we share together. We decided to keep our ceremony private to keep the focus all around our commitments to each other. We loved every minute of it, and had so much time with each other without the worry of making others happy. It was completely about us.

Bold Orange + Pink Wedding in Austin

I adore the super bold color palette of this fun Spring wedding! Captured by Eclectic Images, Tracey and Tanner were married on a lovely May day under a sea of colorful lanterns in Austin, Texas. Following the gorgeous outdoor ceremony, the couple and their guests headed indoors for fabulous food, drinks and dancing. Tracey and Tanner chose a vibrant color palette of hot pink and orange to complement their laid back, yet elegant wedding.

A few words from the bride:

Tanner and I met in Austin when we were both undergrads at the University of Texas. When he proposed, we were living in Virginia, but we knew we wanted to return to Austin for our wedding. We tried to create a laid-back yet still elegant wedding, and Mercury Hall was the perfect choice for our venue. All we had to do was add in plenty of beautiful flowers, an outdoor cigar lounge, some fantastic food and drinks, a great band, and some really fun guests! To top it all off we took a pedicab back to our hotel (the Intercontinental) after the reception – if I had to do it all over again (and I’d love to!) I wouldn’t change a thing!

Amazing Blue Hawaiian + Swedish Wedding in Austin

This looks like such an amazing and fun wedding! Captured by Eclectic Images, Ingrid and Gunnar were married this past October in a gorgeous poolside ceremony in Austin, Texas. Ingrid, who is Swedish, and Gunnar, who is Hawaiian, found unique ways to incorporate their heritage throughout their wedding; from Swedish fish to Hawaiian leis! Beautiful shades of blue were used through all the decor and attire. Be sure to read about the couple’s inspiration for their wedding day and a little story of how the met below!

A few words from the bride:

Nearly all our friends and family had to travel to attend, and we dated long distance for a long time, so travel was definitely the theme. We started with our heritage: Ingrid is Swedish, Gunnar’s from Hawaii, and we wanted to show both of those cultures. Blue for the Swedish flag, green for the mountains on Oahu, and gott och blandat candy alongside kakimochi. This was best represented for us by the wedding cake, each tier of which was devoted to a city that we’d both lived in: New York, Washington, and Austin.

The highlight of the wedding were our officiants: Craig McCullough and Chris Grygo. Having two friends as officiants made it very meaningful. Also, they were hilarious.

We met because of our mutual friend Erica, who describes it best on her website:

“The sweetest from my perspective is that my friends Gunnar and Ingrid got engaged [on Valentine’s Day] after an intervention from their dog Rose, who ferried the ring between the two. I’ve been lucky enough to know both of these two for years and I’m proud to have played a minor causal role in their relationship by introducing them. Gunnar was in Austin for work, and I invited him to meet me at a holiday party across town, thinking while waiting for him to turn up that he and my darling friend Ingrid would get along, being similarly equipped with mischievous wit and devastatingly good bone structure. The sparks were apparent from the fact that while Ingrid was wearing a yeti hat when Gunnar arrived (as one does), Gunnar was shortly thereafter to be observed in the yeti costume in question. In fact, now that I’m thinking about it, although they’ve both shown a lot of love and courage over the past couple of years–having slogged through the unavoidable moments of loneliness and stress of what was once a long-distance relationship, and each having moved across the country for the other–I truly feel that I can take the lion’s share of the credit for the fact that the relationship came into being, and all the happiness that will attend. Congratulations, guys, and you’re welcome.”
