I love this wonderfully romantic engagement session! Captured by Nack Photography, Alix and John spent a beautiful May day canoeing in a picturesque lake in Idaho. Surrounded by huge cottonwood trees, the couple paddled their way around the lake before stopping for a small picnic. I adore the dreamy quality of these images, especially the black and white ones!
I love the perfectly placed pops of red in this Minneapolis, Minnesota wedding! Captured by Studio Laguna Photography, Kelly and Chris were married last November in an intimate ceremony at the modern Calhoun Beach Club. Kelly’s growing baby belly required challenging alterations to the dress she purchased long before she was pregnant, but on her wedding day, she and her five month bump looked fabulous! A simple color palette of black and red accented the neutral decor of the reception space to create an elegant atmosphere. A few words from the bride:
“Chris and I had a really fabulous day filled with family. We met New Year’s Eve, 2008 at a Minnesota Wild game through mutual friends at the ketchup stand. We chose the Calhoun Beach Club because we loved going for runs around the lake and loved the look and feel. It is an elegant and contemporary space. We kept the party small, and our wedding party included his 3 beautiful kids – Victoria (now 17, 16 at the time), Jackson (now 14) and Jakob (now 13). In addition, I was 5 months pregnant with our little one – it kept the alterations interesting as I had purchased my dress long before I was pregnant.
We kept the decor and plans simple, red flowers and black and white accents with damask print throughout the venue, and a simple red velvet cake. Our guest list was small and consisted mainly of family. Our favors were jars of honey made by the bees my father raises in Hutchinson, MN.
I can’t say enough great things about the vendors I worked with – D’Amico’s team was wonderul, Jean from Violet’s created the most beautiful flowers and Studio Laguna took amazingly beautiful pictures. She also took our newborn photos – she’s very talented.”
Wow, there are so many stunning images in this modern Chicago engagement session captured by Soda Fountain Photography! Maggie and Chris spent the day wandering around the city, capitalizing on the beautiful foggy weather. Later, the couple went wading into Lake Michigan, hand in hand. Due to low visibility, several rescue crews were on the shore when they returned, giving the unique opportunity to snag a few shots with the Chicago Fire Department truck. The combination of sun and fog is gorgeous, perfect for isolating amazing silhouettes.
