Real Wedding: Moira + Brent in Chicago

There are so many amazing details in this modern wedding! Captured by Theresa Scarbrough Photography, Moira and Brent were married last September at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. The couple carried a subtle, yet cohesive, map theme throughout their design to symbolize their love of travel and Moira’s career as an urban planner. A cheery color palette of neutrals with bright pops of yellow brightens the decor and floral design. I love that Moira and Brent had a cake cutting with a delicious cupcake! I also adore Moira’s modern gown and stunning cage veil. A few words from the bride:

“When we started planning I knew I wanted a common theme to run through it to help tie things together, but nothing too overt or over-the-top. When I visited our venue for the first time I fell in love with the huge map on the wall featuring the Jesuit explorers of the Midwest. Not only am I the product of many years of Jesuit education, but I am an urban planner and make maps as part of my job, plus my husband and I have both traveled quite a bit so a map theme seemed like the perfect solution. We just included a few small elements in the theme, but we thought they were fun: we purchased custom map cufflinks for the groom and groomsmen, had individual map stickers on the escort cards, and had a world map on the table numbers. Additionally, we purchased vintage postcards from around the world and asked guests to write us notes on them in lieu of a guest book. We tried to keep everything else relatively clean and simple, as the Art Deco chapel and reception room, in addition to the gorgeous lakeside location, were decoration enough, and our vendors, especially our florist, complemented the venue well.”
