I love all the little details of today’s wedding feature. Captured by Danielle Gillett Photography, Michelle and Kevin were married this past March in San Francisco, California. Their wedding theme was “lovebirds” to signify the distance they traveled, from the US to Hong Kong, to visit each other during their courtship. I think Michelle and Kevin did a fabulous job incorporating this theme into their wedding day in a simple, modern way. They also carried a gorgeous color palette of purple, yellow and gray throughout all of the decor and attire. Be sure to take a look at the fabulous rainy day shots (great umbrellas)!
A few words from the bride:
Kevin and I met when he visited Hong Kong on vacation. We started dating 7000 miles apart. Our wedding theme was lovebirds to symbolize how we flew and traveled, eventually building our nest in California. We chose to get married in the beautiful historic Sir Francis Drake Hotel at Union Square, which is a perfect location for our out-of-town guests to explore the City. Our vision for the wedding was simple elegance sprinkled with bird-themed details. We made many items ourselves: from the wedding invitations and the matching place cards, to the bird cake toppers, table signs, menus, programs, and ring bearer “pillow” nest. Kevin also spray-painted the cardbox cage, wishing cards holder, and the cages holding the favor bags for the candy bar. The wedding turned out beautifully with the help of our friends and talented vendors. My good friend from Poppy’s Petalworks provided flower arrangements that were more beautiful than I had imagined, and we had other good friends as our pianist and officiant. Together with our talented photographers, videographers, and make-up artists, we had a dream team for a perfect wedding. Despite the rain that showered upon us, we were able to capture some beautiful outdoor pictures prior to our ceremony. We have been told that rain brings good luck to a marriage so we look forward to it!
