I adore the casual, yet elegant atmosphere of today’s feature wedding! Captured by Jen Yuson Photography, Stephanie and Brannon were married on a gorgeous June day in outdoor ceremony in Knoxville, Tennessee. The couple’s wedding had a lovely, soft vintage vibe mixed with simple details that I love. Be sure to read more about how Stephanie and Brannon met and their inspiration below!
A few words from the bride:
We met our freshman year at the University of Tennessee. It took 4 years of being friends before we realized we could maximize the potential for awesomeness if we got together.
We really wanted our wedding to be laid back but elegant at the same time. We moved to the upper most portion of upstate NY and back to Knoxville during our engagement so we took a bit of a minimalist approach to the planning. We booked all of our vendors within 2 months of the wedding. We didn’t have a lot of traditional items like programs, save the dates, or even a formal color scheme, but we tried to make up for that in very personal choices for the rest of our details throughout our day. We had a lot of help from our friends and family–my maid of honor’s now fiance set the mood with some amazing DJing, my sister-in-law and her life saving mom and sister arranged all of our sweet bouquets for the ceremony, my bridesmaids and I hand painted stemless wine glasses for our wedding favors, another friend offered to video the big day, and all of my bridesmaids are more skilled than me in the art of makeup so I let them take over that arena.
We chose our wedding date to be on the eve of what would have been my dad’s 60th birthday. He passed away when I was in high school so it was important for me to feel connected to him without him being physically present. He was a twin and I loved the idea of having the wedding on his birthday so we would be able to celebrate that milestone with his twin sister and the rest of his side of the fam. (They all live in California, so they made quite the trek so we could all be together!) We wrapped up the night by sending birthday sky lanterns up to him after midnight, and continued the family celebration the next day on the lake before Brannon and I took off for Mexico. It was perfect.
