This beautiful, modern wedding is bursting with DIY touches! Captured by La Luz Photography, Nicole and Adam were married last July in a gorgeous ceremony at their family church in Mukilteo, Washington. Following the ceremony, the couple and their guests headed to the Rosehill Community Center, a venue Nicole worked very hard to secure. She camped out in front of the building for 23 hours to reserve her wedding date (which had to be done exactly one year in advance) and even received a write up in the local news paper! Nicole and Adam are high school sweethearts and have weathered all of life’s ups and downs together over the nine years prior to their wedding day, including the passing of Nicole’s mother due to breast cancer. Nicole’s mother loved Glassybaby colored glass cups, which are handmade in Seattle and benefit many charities, so the head table and altar were lined in with them in remembrance of her. Nicole handmade many items to customize her wedding, be sure to read about them below!
From the bride on how she and Adam met:
“We met our jr year of high school! So at the time of our wedding we had been dating for almost 9 years! Yay for high school sweethearts! He proposed on a beach in Hawaii when we were vacationing with friends! FINALLY!”
From the bride on her wedding inspiration:
“My wedding was inspired by me! I wanted a semi DIY wedding or “a little Nicoleized” since I love crafts! (the aisle hanging balls are made of coffee filters) the farewell flags, place cards, table numbers!! I could go on! The Glassybabies along the head table and altar mean so much to our family. My mom passed away from breast cancer in 2010 and she LOVED Glassybaby and what they did for cancer research and other great causes. (you can read more on their website) they are all handmade and you can rent them for wedding or events, but my family pooled our collections together to make the perfect glassybaby atmosphere!”
