Modern Museum Wedding in Louisiana

I adore all the gorgeous details in today’s modern museum wedding! Captured by Catherine Guidry Photography, Paige and Paul were married on a lovely March day in an outdoor ceremony in front of a cascading water wall in Lafayette, Louisiana. After featuring Paige and Paul’s fabulous engagement session and Paige’s modern bridal session, it is so wonderful to share their stunning wedding! The couple’s modern aesthetic fit perfectly with the chic museum location. A color palette of blue, silver and green was used throughout the decor and attire. I especially love Paige’s unique headpiece!

A few words from the bride:

We met at a house party when I was 17 and he was 20. I was a friend of one of his friends’ younger brothers.

We both love the blend of the modern and the traditional. The venue was both, so we wanted to carry those tastes throughout the wedding. We chose decor that had both modern and traditional aspects to them. Because the art museum has blue lights at night, we decided to keep all the reception decor white and silver so that the blue light would wash over it. We incorporated pops of green for color during the ceremony.

Breathtaking Modern White Art Museum Inspiration Session

My apologies for the lack of posting recently, but I promise you that this fabulous inspiration session is worth the wait! Captured by Djamel Photography, this modern styled shoot combines crisp white details in a wonderful art museum setting for some stylish inspiration. A backdrop of floating orchids is perfect against the textural art. I also love the architectural floral arrangements and swanky lounge seating. A pink, square, three-tiered cake with a marbled finish is the perfect complement to the otherwise white decor. Also, who doesn’t love a session with an adorable bulldog puppy?

A few words from the photographer:

This modern inspired shoot was created with clean, simple and white as an inspiration. Djamel with Djamel Photography had in mind a small contemporary art museum in the heart of St. Petersburg, Florida. The large textural art by Syliva Hommert in the Mindy Solomon Museum made a perfect backdrop for the shoot. FH Weddings leather serpentine shaped sectional along with the backdrop of hanging Cattleya orchids made a simple and clean modern setting. Anglo Couture’s sleek straight lined wedding dress accented with a thin silver belt made a stunning statement on the model. So many fabulous details such as the marble cake to the absolutely adorable French bulldog puppy made this modern shoot a big hit.

Fun Purple Art Museum Wedding in Baltimore

I love the quirky, unique venue of today’s wedding! Captured by Natalie Lane Photography, Rachel and Justin were married on a gorgeous June day in the Wildflower Garden at the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Maryland. The off beat sculptures of the AVAM provided the perfect, unconventional backdrop for a super fun event. A lovely variety of purples were used throughout the wedding party attire and reception decor. Be sure to read about how the couple met and their wedding inspiration below!

A few words from the bride:

Justin and I met and became friends while working at the same restaurant after college. (Best hire I ever made!) We dated on and off for years before we finally moved in together. Then came our rescue puppy, Fiona. A little while later, we bought a house together in Baltimore. Justin proposed to me the morning of the big move! Thinking of that moment still makes my heart beat a little bit faster.

When it came to our wedding, I knew just where I wanted to have it because I had catered an event there years before and fallen in love with the quirky charm (Our guests got to walk through the museum throughout the event. Over and over they came running up to me to laugh about the “Bra Ball” and the fart machine!) We scheduled a visit to AVAM and I told Justin that if he agreed, he wouldn’t have to visit a single other venue! He was happy to comply.

As for the rest, our main goal was to make the wedding a party that we would love to attend. The food was very important to us, we wanted it to be delicious but not stuffy so we went with food stations that had favorites like crab cake sliders, quesadillas and tacos, and a french fry bar (as an homage to my maiden name, spelled ‘Fries’.)

My favorite details from the day include the bridesmaids dresses (the ladies picked their own purple dresses, the variety was gorgeous), the lace from my mother’s dress that I wore in my hair and on my flowers, and the love that we felt from celebrating with our amazing family and friends. It was perfect.
