Modern + Playful Los Angeles, California Wedding

Get ready for a whole lot of gorgeous! Captured by Kim Fox Photography, Katie and Eric were married this past June at a beautiful cultural center in Los Angeles, California. The venue, filled with modern lines and architecture, was the perfect setting for this stylish event. A color palette of gold and purple was used to accent the neutral colors of the venue. Katie and Eric completed a number of fun diy projects to make their wedding reflect their personalities. I love the gold crowns, inspired by “Where the Wild Things Are”, that everyone wore at the reception!

A few words from the bride:

Eric and I met in college and always have had a very fun-loving relationship. Although we didn’t realize right away we wanted to be together forever, we always kept in touch no matter what cities or oceans laid between us. When we decided to get married, we picked out the ring together, but I still managed to be shocked when he proposed to me while vacationing in Paris.

We love the clean lines and simplicity of the modern aesthetic so the floor to ceiling glass walls, high ceilings and the architecture of the Skirball was perfect. One of our favorite books is “Where the Wild Things Are” so we used that as a theme by framing quotes on tables and making gold crowns to add a playful and fun vibe to the party.

We didn’t want the planning of the wedding to be too stressful so with our families we did fun DIY things like spray painting bottles gold for the table numbers, creating a donation card to one of our favorite charities instead of favors, and designing and printing all paper used at the wedding. We also got vintage white Polaroid cameras so our guests could take pictures as they walked in which we turned into a memory book.

Real Engagement: Vanessa + Rick in Los Angeles

I hope all of you on the East coast are safe following hurricane Sandy! My thoughts are with all those affected as they struggle to recover and rebuild over the next weeks.

Luckily, this engagement session doesn’t feature a bit of rain, only gorgeous blue skies! Captured by Mark Martinez Photography, Vanessa and Rick spent a day last February wandering Los Angeles, California in search of unique urban scenery. They started at the world famous Olvera Street, taking advantage of the historic location’s textures and colors. After a quick break for delicious taquitos, they headed to the historic Griffith Park Observatory. The observatory combines beautiful art deco architecture with stunning views of the city.

Real Engagement: Natasha + Robert in LA

There are so many great backdrops in this modern Los Angeles engagement session! Captured by Laurel isle Photography, Natasha and Robert wanted fresh and funky images to celebrate their engagement. The headed to the ultra modern Custom Hotel near LAX Airport last December to take advantage of the hotel’s many sculptural features. Later, the couple wrapped up the session on the beach for a few stunning sunset images. I especially love the circular cutout bench!
