Real Wedding: Emma + Paul in Oxfordshire

I love this romantic English summer wedding! Captured by Weddings by Nicola & Glen, Emma and Paul were married last May in the picturesque Cotswolds. The couple’s ceremony was held in the 14th century Holy Trinity Church in the village of Shenington, where the bride’s parents live. What made this setting truly unique was the thick layer of grass covering the floor in the church’s ancient tradition of “grass-strewing”. For three weeks from Whitsunday through Pentecost, the church floor is covered with freshly cut grass. Following the lovely ceremony, guests headed to the grounds of Sulgrave Manor, the home of George Washington’s ancestors, for a wonderful celebration. Guests enjoyed croquet and Pimm’s on sun filled lawns and filled favor bags with vintage candies and a special chocolate crunch made by the groom’s grandmother. An elegant color palette of pale pink and burgundy (oxblood if you use this season’s term) perfectly complemented this romantic event!

Real Engagement: Sara + George in Liverpool

One of the best things about running Modernly Wed is getting the chance to see engagements and weddings from around the world! Captured by Scarlett Weddings Photography, Sara and George’s engagement session is in the heart of Liverpool City Centre in Merseyside, UK. This Sunday morning session is filled with varied scenery, vibrant colors, and lots of love. A few words from Sara on her love story with George:

“We met in February 2005 when I was at university, I was in the same halls as one of George’s school friends. He didn’t go to the university but came to visit his friend one weekend and that’s when we met and started talking. George proposed last October in Big Sur whilst we were on a trip to California. It was very unexpected but seems apt as California is George’s second home (and love). George picked a lovely spot to propose!! George has travelled a lot, and I once went half way across the world to meet him in Hawaii when he went on an around the world trip for 6 months when we first got together. So it seems appropriate to have a travel themed wedding with an old-fashioned vintage twist”
