Fresh Yellow + Green Wedding in Madison, WI

I adore the bold, bright colors of this fun wedding! Captured by New Angus Studio Photography, Kelly and James were married in a beautiful garden on a sunny July day in Madison, Wisconsin. The couple, whom both work on Capital Hill, wanted to bring a fresh, modern sensibility to their midwest wedding. A lovely color palette of bright yellow and green, Kelly and James’ favorite colors, was used throughout the attire and decor. They included a nod to their first date, a bicycle ride, on the invitations and save the dates. Wisconsin Governor and Kelly’s former boss, Jim Doyle, obtained his license to marry in order to perform the ceremony for Kelly and James. Kelly’s uncle played bag pipes during the ceremony and reception. Each bridesmaid chose her own green dress and the groomsmen wore their own blue suits. Simple yellow tulip bouquets and boutonnieres completed the look. Such a fun and beautiful wedding!

A few words from the bride:

James and I met through mutual friends. We’re both active cyclists and our first date was a long ride from Washington, DC to Mount Vernon.

James and I were adamant that we did not want a cookie cutter wedding. My favorite color is yellow and his favorite color is green. So we went with those colors and wanted clean/fresh/fun/unique and I think we accomplished that. One of the items that we settled on almost immediately was having my Uncle Pat play the bagpipes in our wedding. It was such a fun treat to have him play at the ceremony and as we entered the reception, one of the many highlights!

Real Wedding: Nicole + Eric in Indianapolis

I love the bold, bright colors of this spring wedding! Captured by Kristin Hornberger Photography, Nicole and Eric were married last May in an intimate ceremony with friends and family in Indianapolis, Indiana. Eric proposed to Nicole on the beach in Florida, so a beach theme was a perfect choice for their wedding decor. Nicole carried a stunning, vibrant green, orange and yellow bouquet with a wonderfully tropical vibe. The couple’s wedding day was extra special, as they had waited for the moment they were pronounced husband and wife to share their first kiss together. Read more about Nicole and Eric’s love store below!

A few words from the photographer on the couple’s love story:

“Nicole and Eric first met at their church. When I asked Eric about when he realized that he had found “the one” in Nicole, he said, “The man is the one that should know before he even asks a woman out. Which in this case was the deal! However it was not that easy of a thing to realize being that it does take some time to really confirm you found the one to spend the rest of your life with.”

When it came to the proposal, it happened on the beach in Florida. Upon their arrival and getting to their rental in Florida, Eric couldn’t wait much longer. He headed straight to the beach to surprise Nicole for the proposal. They started planning their wedding shortly after and decided a “beach themed” wedding would be perfect. They came across Community Life Center for their wedding and Eric had been there before. It was a perfect venue to set-up their gorgeous tropical wedding. Their favorite part of the wedding planning was just learning one another better.

Of all the exciting things happening on their wedding day, they are looking forward to finally becoming one on the wedding day! Eric said, “We both are very excited and compassionate about coming together as one. During our time of dating and courting we both decided to not kiss one another let alone anything else. We chose to remain pure. Although we’ve remained close, but not too close by Gods grace!” So the pictures they were really looking forward to on their wedding day in their words, “Oh the first kiss I would say. lol!” And I loved that they did take that special time when Mr. Charles Simmons, their pastor, said that Eric could now kiss his bride with a super long and romantic kiss.”

Real Wedding: Paige + Sam in California

Wow, I love all the bold and bright colors in this wedding! Captured by Joe+Kathrina Photography, Paige and Sam were married last September in Huntington Beach, California at the Hyatt Regency. The couple’s beach wedding captured their love of the ocean and a palette of “sunset” colors helped to emphasize the theme. A custom flower logo was the focal point of the bright and graphic wedding invitations and stamps. The bridesmaids each wore a dress with a bold color from the wedding’s sunset palette. The groomsmen wore black suits with colored socks to add some pizazz. Not to be outdone by the bridal party, Paige wore amazing hot pink sequined heels! The couple met at the drive through of a Starbucks, so they gifted their guests with Starbucks gift cards as wedding favors. As a late night snack during the reception, churro bites with caramel and chocolate dip were served. Sounds delicious!
