Bridal Fashion: The Glamorous Bride

The glamorous bride is next in my new series of bridal fashion looks. Centered around a gorgeous mermaid gown that is super fitted on top and luxuriously voluminous on the bottom, this look is perfect for a bride with modern-vintage glam style. Colored jewel earrings, fun polka dot pumps and a simple black clutch complete the ensemble.

Bridal Fashion: The Geometric Bride

This is the first post in a new series dedicated to fabulous, modern bridal fashion! I based this bridal look around a gorgeous Donna Karan gown that features crisp, geometric folds along the neckline and bodice. Simple gold and black accessories with clean lines complete the ensemble.

Bold Purple + Teal Watercolor Inspiration Session

I love all the gorgeous details of today’s urban watercolor inspiration session! Amanda of Tailored Engagements and Heather of Heather Cook Elliott Photography teamed up to create a stunning styled shoot filled with colorful, modern ideas. The bold purple and teal color scheme creates a dramatic atmosphere that pairs perfectly with the soft watercoloring of the stationery and table linens. Chic attire is characterized by strong patterns, colors and statement jewelry. Be sure to read about the inspiration behind the session below!

A few words about the session from the photographer:

Amanda from Tailored Engagements and I are city girls and we love the challenge of designing and photographing urban weddings in wonderfully old buildings in our fair city and beyond. Lake Michigan and the Milwaukee River surround our neighborhood on east and west so its pretty easy to understand how we were inspired by the ebb & flow and ever changing colors of the water to create this Urban Meets Modern Watercolor Inspiration Shoot. We imagine this venue setup for a young couple in love with one another and the city. She’s a little flirty and he’s a bit hipster, but together they love texture, color and making a dramatic statement with a short dress for her and colorful slacks for him. This shoot is about surprises and inverting the expected to create something magical and uniquely them: The guest chairs are translucent paired with a full-bodied settee for the bride & groom. The bridesmaid’s grecian-inpired dress is long next to the bride’s short, sassy one. The cakes are all white with the flowers left to decorate the clear cake table. The wine glasses lose their stems and sit snuggly next to low, but robust bursts of flowers on the long tablescape. The shoes and tablecloths are all hand-colored and contrasty and each piece of jewelry a statement – from the bride’s bold earrings and necklace ensemble to the bridesmaid’s Indian-inspired bangles. Surprisingly romantic while still being fun and young, we love how this inspiration shoot could be right at home in any city, big or small.
