Tuesday Shoesday: Bold Striped Wedges

Today’s feature shoe is another bold, graphic style. The Silent Star Wedges are handmade by Beverly Feldman and offer dramatic black and white stripes on the 3.5″ wedge heel. I really love this graphic style for summer because it mixes a fun print with neutral colors to create a super wearable shoe. (Available here for $210).

Real Wedding: Lindsey + Michael in Washington, DC

I think art museums are the perfect setting for a modern wedding since they typically offer clean lines, white walls and, of course, gorgeous artwork. Captured by Robert Holley Photography, Lindsey and Michael were married last August at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, DC. The museum serves as a gorgeous backdrop for their indoor ceremony and reception. A bold royal blue punctuated the otherwise white decor, while architectural floral arrangements defined the ceremony aisle. I love how the guests were able to sip cocktails amongst stunning works of art.

Real Wedding: Elyse + Adam in Boston

I always have a soft spot for Boston weddings. Photographed by DMPJ by Glen Cooper, Elyse and Adam were married last September at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The couple mixed the clean, modern lines of the venue with softer, vintage details to create their perfect setting. A few words from the bride:

“We wanted our day to feel like ‘us’, contemporary and fun with lots of romantic touches. Since it was love at first sight for Adam and I when we met at JFK airport on our way to Israel for a trip sponsored by the Birthright Foundation, we wanted to create an atmosphere that celebrated our unique love story while honoring the family and friends we love so much. We had a gorgeous backdrop to work with – the Royal Sonesta Hotel, situated on the Charles River in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It had everything we were looking for – a unique collection of modern art throughout an open and bright space, with spectacular views of Charles River sunsets and the lights of the Boston skyline. Our inspiration for the day was to combine the clean lines and modern decor of our venue with vintage touches reminiscent of our favorite Parisian-styled cafe in Philadelphia, a place where we have spent many lazy Sunday afternoons admiring the gilt antiques, delicate mirrors and beaded chandeliers. Vintage grey mercury glass votives, vases, sconces and candle holders of different shapes and sizes were scattered throughout the space. Centerpieces of yellow and white hydrangea and roses were balanced with icy grey dusty miller. One of the most special features of the day was a collection of antique picture frames featuring multiple generations of family wedding photos. The vintage mirrors and candles placed on the table with the photos played tribute to the history that the pictures represent. Adam and I created a monogram (e+a) that we used on most of our paper products – menu cards, wedding programs and welcome bag letters – to make them our own. All in all our day was perfect. The sun sparkled for our photos on the Charles River and it set against the backdrop of a clear sky and full moon as we said our vows. People who attended the wedding have told us that the whole day felt like a fairy tale – we couldn’t agree more!”
