Industrial-Chic Wine Country Wedding in California

I love the perfect mix of industrial and chic in this wedding! Captured by Heather Elizabeth Photography, Kelli and Matt were married last April at a unique, old mill in Clarksburg, California. Their wedding day was inspired by the surrounding wine region and the rustic feel of the venue. A neutral color palette of creams and dark navy blue provides the perfect backdrop for this stylish event.

A few words from the bride:

Our wedding was inspired by the region in which we decided to get married. We wanted it to be rustic, but still be an evening wedding. We got married in a huge brick building with broken windows and piles of bricks throughout the venue’s property. We really wanted to stay true to the look and feel; so we used distressed wood, old wine bottles, corks, and burlap for our decor.

All Matt and I really wanted was to have a big party, not only for our friends and family but for us too. We felt like we deserved it. After being together for over 7 years, and planning this crazy wedding, all we really wanted was to celebrate each other. As long as our day was filled with love, our favorite people, good food, drinks, and music, then the night would have been a success. Looking back on it now, I think we both can say we accomplished that.

Sweet + Simple NYC Elopement

I love the overwhelming happiness of this adorable couple! Captured by Katie Jane Photography, Katie and Nick eloped last March on a beautiful and unseasonably warm day in New York City. Katie and Nick are originally from Australia and decided to elope prior to heading home to Melbourne for a party with all their friends and family. The couple’s day began by dressing at their lovely Greenpoint, Brooklyn apartment. Next, they walked around their tree-lined neighborhood streets, including a stop at the place where Nick proposed one evening on a walk home from dinner, for a few portraits before heading to City Hall. They met their good friend and witness, Abbi, who was ready with champagne in hand, at City Hall. Following a short wait, they were ushered into the chapel for a short, yet very sweet, ceremony. Afterwards, Katie and Nick practically skipped out of City Hall, so filled with joy!

A few words from the bride:

We had such an awesome and relaxing wedding day! We got ready at home in Greenpoint with champagne and vegemite toast for with a dear friend Georgia (who also helped me into my dress), took some photos with Katie Jane, and then headed to the Clerk’s Office in Manhattan. Our civil ceremony was witnessed by Abbi, a dear, longtime friend of ours, and then the rest of the day included a late lunch at ABC Kitchen, skyping family in Melbourne, and watching our favorite movie, The Royal Tenenbaums. We hopped a flight to Melbourne and celebrated a few days later with a rooftop barbecue for family and friends at our favorite bar in the city; The Order of Melbourne. We feel incredibly lucky to have had the low-key wedding day we wanted, whilst still celebrating with all our loved ones in our hometown.

Stunning Modern + Cultural Wedding in Brooklyn

Stunning Modern + Cultural Wedding in Brooklyn | Images by Julia Newman Photography | Via Modernly Wed | 01

I love everything about this simple, modern wedding! Captured by Julia Newman Photography, Inna and Mehul were married on a beautiful, sunny day last May in Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York. Surrounded by friends and family, the couple was united in a ceremony overlooking the Hudson River with amazing views toward Liberty Island.  Next, Inna, Mehul and their guests headed into the unique Liberty Warehouse for dinner and dancing. I love how the simple, white decor is paired with wonderful cultural traditions for a truly one of a kind event. Be sure to take a look at Inna’s description of the day, as well as the wonderful wedding video at the end of the post!

A few words from the bride:

My husband and I have a very modern aesthetic and from the start, we wanted our wedding to radiate simple elegance. Equally important, we wanted it to be the most fun night of our lives. While we set the bar high, we kept a very open mind and focused on hiring vendors who understood our vision and who we knew would strive for excellence.

We picked the Liberty Warehouse because it felt like the perfect blend of the cities that we’ve lived in – New York, London and San Francisco. Immediately we were blown away by the gorgeous views and the surprisingly unpretentious metropolitan vibe. We’re also big foodies and we knew that catering by the River Cafe would ensure that the night was a huge success from a gastronomical standpoint.

From there, we found the incredibly talented and inspired Julia Newman who we just knew would perfectly capture the beauty of the evening. Our florist Melanie from Melarosa brought our clean, modern vision to life with gorgeous white flower arrangements that combined different textural elements. My husband comes from an Indian background and my family is Russian Jewish so music was very important for us. Heartbeart Dance Band did not disappoint – our guests did not stop dancing all night long. The best part was that we never worried about a thing; our planner Roey Mizrahi and her team took care of every single detail so that my husband and I could breathe easy and enjoy each second of this unforgettable night. The highlight you ask? WIthout a doubt it was seeing the looks on our guest’s faces when, to their surprise, my husband’s two kids joined us in the middle of our first dance for a choreographed hip hop routine to the Black Eyed Peas. Priceless!
