Today’s feature wedding is bursting with personal details and fabulous DIY touches! Captured by Kaysha Weiner Photographer, Janet and Richard were married on a sunny May day in a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in Long Beach, California. The couple’s event perfectly mixed DIY charm with modern styling to create a day that reflected their personalities. A beautiful, soft color palette of blush pink and gray was used throughout the decor and attire. Be sure to read about all the DIY projects below!
A few words from the bride:
I’ve always been fascinated by how incredibly unique weddings can be. I’ve attended many over the years and found that some are simple, some are quirky, some a bit traditional but nearly all speak of the bride and groom in some way. It’s truly impossible to pinpoint a single moment or single source of inspiration for our wedding. All we knew was that we wanted this to be a reflection of us, our loving friends and our wild family.
With that in mind, Richard and I set off to conceive, plan and personalize our Southern California wedding in true do-it-yourself fashion. Everything from our invitations to our candy & dessert table to the handcrafted mustaches and top hats at our photo booth came from the countless hours spent at our local craft stores. Fortunately, we didn’t go at it alone. We enlisted our home-kitchen-pastry-chef cousins to bake elegant pink macarons and irresistible cake pops. We even assembled a small army of vendors and worked with them to select every detail including grey pin-tuck linens, delicate lace icing on our three tiered cake (which I absolutely adore) and a wide selection of single malt whiskies & spirits to get the party started.
One thing that is simple to identify is what made our day special… it was the people. Our vendors made our beautiful day come alive and captured our memories. Our bridal party and brother-in-law-officiant ensured we… I mean I… kept it together. And, more importantly, our family and friends ensured we had incredible memories and endless love to take with us on our journey together. We had the wedding of our dreams because of them.
Throughout our wedding planning the wedding blogs & wedding magazines were an incredible source of knowledge, guidance and inspiration. The dream wedding that we had envisioned had definitely come to life and been fulfilled.
