This wedding is filled with small personal touches and vintage-modern influences. Photographed by Photomuse, Elissa and Jeff were married last June in Aberdeen, New Jersey in a lovely, religious indoor ceremony. A soft, romantic color palette of blush pink, lavender and seafoam green was carried throughout the floral arrangements, wedding party’s attire, and the ballroom decor. I love Elissa’s lace and applique wedding gown and her stunning cage veil; she definitely combined vintage influences with modern sophistication! Be sure to read these words from the bride to learn about the umbrella inspiration and other details about this gorgeous wedding:
“The vision I had for our June wedding was modern-meets-vintage, garden, light, romantic, ethereal, lace, with a hint of Great Gatsby. And birdcages….I love birdcages. My florist Rebecca Shepherd and I perfectly ‘clicked.’ Not only did she understand my vision, but she expanded on it and brought it true to form. I felt like I was in my very own Secret Garden. I tried to incorporate baby pink, lavender, cream, and light shades of green – from the invitations my friend designed, to the color of the flowers. As much as I love to think out-of-the-box, I am also very sentimental and love symbolism. So while the lace around the handle of my bouquet was from my mother’s wedding gown (that my two grandmothers had made for her years ago), my shoes were a pair of seafoam-color peep-toes. Our venue had a modern edge, but I also brought in a hint of vintage by having framed wedding photos of our parents and grandparents displayed on a mantle. We wanted to have a religious ceremony but one that was meaningful to us — so together Jeff and I created our ceremony by choosing all the poems, readings, and prayers. Not only did it rain whenever Jeff and I travel on vacation, but it also completely down poured when he proposed to me in Central Park. So to us, we welcome rain! We like to think “It’s harder to untie a wet knot.” So we were elated with the torrential down pour AND thunder on our wedding day — feeling that the earth was rolling out ‘the red carpet’ for us. My photographers Kristin Reimer and Steven Fontas were there the day we got engaged, hiding out in the rain, taking beautiful photos of Jeff and me under our purple umbrella. So Kristin and Steven ingeniously thought of using all the umbrellas we brought for our guests to take a photo of us surrounded by a sea of umbrellas inside the foyer of the venue. It was stunning!”
